For this juice detox recipe, avoid peeling off the skin of the green apples because most of the nutrients of apples are located on its skin. Apples are great sources of antioxidants and vitamins K and C. Recent studies also show that certain types of apples may contain UV-B protection that can protect your skin from the sun.

Similar to green apples, starfruits are also rich in fiber and Vitamin C. Celery also contains good amounts of vitamin C that can also help in cancer prevention while dragon fruits are low in calories and high in antioxidants.

I was given the above recipe by a practitioner friend who has found it beneficial for her clients. For some variation, you can also add great leafy vegetables like spinach and kale for the phytochemicals that they offer.

There are also several books that you can turn to for great juice detox recipes. Try a different every other day and bookmark those that you like.

Vegetable Juice Detox: Tips and Recipe Ideas

For juice fasting, it is not just fruits that you can juice. You can also consider juicing vegetables. A vegetable juice detox can help your body remove its toxic waste and its cleansing process.

Vegetables also contain an abundant sources of vitamins and minerals not found in other foods. In fact, if you find that you are not eating enough vegetables on a daily basis, you can also think about consuming vegetable drinks. In this manner, you will ensure that you do not give up on including phytochemicals for a balanced nutrition.

A vegetable juice detox allows your body to absorb quickly what you consume without activating your digestive system as it would if you eat the more fibrous vegetables. Your digestive system can then get to work on all the toxic waste that has been accumulating in your body.

Do bear in mind that a vegetable juice detox should not be carried out as an ongoing exercise. At best, you can only fast for up to a week. 3. Blend tomato, celery, parsley, broccoli and cucumber. Be sure that you get only the freshest tomato that is ripe by the time they are picked from the plant. If they are taken at this state, they contain twice the amount of Vitamin C.

4. You can also choose to season your carrot vegetable juice with some garlic, ginger and onion. This combination is something different for your taste buds but is still healthy and nutritious.

The Difference Between Juice Fasting and Juice Detox

A juice detox is very similar to a juice fast with one essential difference. You continue to eat certain foods while you drink your juices. Many of you may be thinking that this therefore constitutes a normal detox diet but it doesn't – the majority of what you ingest over the specified timeframe is simply fruit and vegetable juice but occasionally, generally towards the end of the detox, small amounts of food are also allowed.

A good example of a juice detox is as follows:

  • Day 1 – drink freshly squeezed fruit or vegetable juice every four hours. If you feel thirsty in between juice drinks you can have filtered water or herbal tea as an extra drink.
  • Day 2 – as day one but you can add up to 1lb of grapes and three bananas.
  • Day 3 – as day two plus a serving of raw vegetables and another fruit choice.
  • Day 4 to 7 – as day three plus a mixture of whole grain cereals, beans, nuts and seeds. This is essentially a detox diet based around juice.

Alternatively, you may want to drink your fruit juices throughout the day and have a bowl of clear vegetable broth in the evening. The length of time you remain on the juice detox is entirely up to you however it is not advisable to continue for more than a week or two at most.

A juice detox is a great way to start off your detoxing career or for those of you who are veterans of the diets then this is a fantastic little fill in between those 30 day fasts. Either way the benefits will be felt within days of your first juice drink and they will continue to be felt for months after you finish.
